Are you ready to step up to Chief Stewardess or Second Stew and take on more responsibility. This course will provide you with some very strong skills to take you forward in your career.  Learn how to manage administration of your interior, your information systems and operating procedures as well as all aspects of Human Resources and how to put those systems in place for an efficient running of any yacht or villa interior.

This course has a pre-course learning and assignment module which requires approximately 6 hours.

What the course covers

Course Content

  • Introduction to Management:  Understanding how to manage the operational running of a professional interior onboard including how to manage Service, Housekeeping and Laundry departments as well as how to monitor the vision, mission and goals through organisation, planning, leadership, delegation and control.
  • Interior Administration: Understanding how to operate the professional interior including Standard Operating Procedures for each department by use of Inventories, Checklists, Uniform Management, Department Procedures, Rosters, Schedules, Interior Guidelines and how to maintain standards.
  • Interior Information Management System: Have a good working knowledge and understanding of how to operate the system for each department by strategic planning along with management and operational control by creating, implementing and managing contacts, records, Defect Book as well as Pantry Book; creating, implementing and managing Guest Preference Sheets, placing and receiving orders and managing complaints.
  • Human Resources, Induction & Talent: Comprehend how to implement and manage Human Resource procedures and guidelines in the department including, Recruitment, Selection and Interviews, implementing and managing Training and Development opportunities, Employee Relations and Relationship Management, communicate and implement disciplinary procedures, comprehend, implement and manage Performance Management, understanding Employee compensation and benefits policies, understanding of State Compliance, Yacht Standing Orders and Regulators policies, understanding Contracts and Agreements, SEA’s & MLC as well as understanding commitment to wellbeing, culture and religion.
